Excerpt taken from President Obama’s Inauguration Speech:

In reaffirming the greatness of our nation, we understand that greatness is never a given. It must be earned. Our journey has never been one of shortcuts or settling for less. It has not been the path for the fainthearted — for those who prefer leisure over work, or seek only the pleasures of riches and fame. Rather, it has been the risk-takers, the doers, the makers of things — some celebrated, but more often men and women obscure in their labor — who have carried us up the long, rugged path toward prosperity and freedom.

Well, if innovation is indeed going to dig us out of our financial mess, the time is now to accelerate the rate at which that innovation gets created; and it starts with helping those “risk taking” entrepreneurs. And that’s the reason the North team got the ball rolling on the Venture Phenome Project. This is no time to be hiding secrets of the craft. The time to optimize entrepreneurship is now.

Borrowing from the scientific principles that led to the mapping of the human genome, the Venture Phenome Project was developed to build a Phenotype map of the genetic and environmental factors that ultimately influence the success or failure of a new venture. By tracking and measuring these factors over time, this collaborative research effort is able to “crack the code” on early stage investing. The Venture Phenome Project is a platform for learning from and sharing wisdom with both seasoned investors and forward-thinking entrepreneurs.

After all, no one benefits by spending time focused on a venture that has bad DNA.

Be sure to check out the project and pass it on to anyone you believe can benefit from its content. You can click here to join our Linkedin Group where you can exchange dialogue with other forward-thinking entrepreneurs and investors.
